UPTON FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
I know you were all expecting to read about our outings for 2009 in the March edition of this publication and I fully intended to sort everything for then. However I lost my mother in February and was fully committed to her care before that, so, as I’m sure you will all understand, UFC had to take a back seat. Sadly during 2008 we also lost Arthur Gilbert, Madge Ward and Olive Pond – all will be greatly missed. However life has to go on, and we all need to enjoy it as much as we can! I now must look forward and think of our outings for 2009 and hope you are all well and rearing to go!
We are starting off with a trip to Kings Lynn on Tuesday 21 April (market day) – usual pickup places and times. I hope as many of you as possible are able to support this outing as I will be too late to cancel the coach (we will have a raffle). I will be taking bookings over the telephone FROM 1 APRIL and the seats will be on a first come first served basis. You can pay your annual membership fee (£3) on the coach - no need for a £2 deposit on this occasion. Membership money for all other people can be paid on your first outing or you can send it to me with deposits to the address below. We had a number of new members towards the end of 2009 and lots of interest has been shown already this year – so let’s hope we have full coaches and plenty of really enjoyable days out!
Our next outing is confirmed, on Wednesday 27 May to Holt for an early lunch and then on to Sheringham Park (coach will enter the Park) where the rhododendrons and azaleas should be at their best. This outing will involve some walking so please bring any necessary aids. If you can manage it, this is usually a magnificent display!
As ‘old’ members will know, we have between 6 and 8 outings a year to various places in Norfolk and Suffolk. The more full coaches we get, the more outings I can maybe slot into our programme as we go! Don’t worry if you are on your own – just indicate that you would like to meet other people when booking. Pickup times are usually kept the same, seats need to be booked and £2 non-returnable deposit paid well in advance (once I have sorted our programme for the year!) Your £2 will be deducted from the total to pay on the coach.
THIS NOTICE MIGHT BE TOO LATE TO CATCH SOME PUBLICATIONS in time to book for Kings Lynn so PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD and I will post a few notices in various places around the villages at beginning of April. I will try to make sure our full programme is sorted and appears in plenty of time for the next publications.
