History The facility was built in 1993 as part of the Acle Recreation Centre complex. The building and fit out costs were met from a loan, now re-paid, from the Parish Council. Today, the Indoor Bowls Club provides a substantial income for the Centre. It has also achieved success in both the International and County Titles, being . In 1996 the Club provided 25% of the England Ladies Under 25s Team . The Club has produced 10 England Junior Internationals . The Club has won 20 County Titles . George Tubby (27) who qualified for the World Singles Championship in 2006 . Club members have won World Titles and a Commonwealth Games medal. In 2007, the Club has had its most successfull season winning 8 County Titles. 1 Men's County Premier Division 2 Men's County Singles 3 Mens County Pairs 4 Mens County Triples 5 Mens Fedreation County Pairs 6 Mens Federation County Triples 7 Ladies Federation County Pairs 8 County Under 25s Singles We are the first club ever to contest every County Title. Acle Indoor Bowls have commenced a new season with a full programme of domestic, county and national competitions. Sponsors The Club proudly has the following sponsors:- Aldreds Roy Wilkinson Hardware Alan Boswell Insurance M & G Engineers Opening Hours The Indoor Bowls Club is open every day from 10.00am - 11.00pm from 1st September to 30th April with reduced hours during the summer period. Membership Currently, there are over 600 members with a 2/1 ratio of men/ladies. The Club have a strong youth section which has featured in the final stages of national championships on many occasions, reaching the Club finals on three occastions and winning the national Championship Title in 1998. New Members New members, whether International standard or Beginner are always made welcome. The Club offers the facilities of two rinks and Coaches on a Saturday, so if you are looking for a new local sport, why not try out bowls! Fees There is a joining fee of £10.00 and an annual subscription of £30.00 with the two hour rink fee being £1.80 for Members and £2.80 for Non-members. Coaching and the hire of all equipment is provided free of charge. Social Committee The Club has an active social sub committee. Trips are organised, bowls tours undertaken, bowls holidays enjoyed and over £27,000 has been raised for local charities. Contact There is always a Steward on duty at the Club to assist.
