If you are planning an event in Acle, please let me know by completing the Event Form (see bottom of this page). This will help others in the village by not planning another event on the same day. Details of events are supplied and are as accurate as possible. If you require further information about any of the events, please contact the person nominated.

  23rd Creative Photography - The St Lawrence Centre, South Walsham - 10-1pm - We will be looking at other people’s work and discussing ways of improving your photographs using the manual settings available on SLR cameras. Discover the relationship between apertures, shutter speeds and focus and see how you can be a more creative photographer. Bring in your camera (along with the instruction manual if you have one), and a selection of your own pictures for discussion. Imogen Cunningham – Two Callas 1929 Course fee £12.   21st St Edmund Church - coffee morning - Parish Hall

February 2nd Acle High School - Introduction to the Night Sky - Michael Shepherd, from the Norwich Astronomical Society - starts at 7pm. This is a FREE event.
  10th St Edmund's Cake Tasting - are you a great cake-maker? Do you make a cake that is to die for? Do you just like to eat cake? If so, come along to the Parish Hall at 7pm to the Cake Making and Tasting Competition. Cake makers are invited to bake their finest cakes and bring them along to the Hall to be tasted. The cake that gains the most votes wins!! IF you wish to enter a cake, contact Ros Webb by Sunday 7th February on 01493 752169. Entrance is £2 on the door but if you enter a cake, its free.
  13th Acle Recreational Club - Cash Bingo - Main Hall, 8.00 p.m. start
  14th Acle Churches Together are hold ing a Celebration of Marriage Service in St Edmunds Church, starting at 3pm. If you were married in any of the local Churches or are celebrating a special anniversay this year, do come to make a re-affirmation of your marriage vows and/or celebrate marriage.
  17th Ash-Wednesday - Holy Communion service will be held at St Edmunds at 7.30pm.
  20th Methodist Church Hall (near the Library) 10am-noon - Coffee Morning with good quality second hand goods sale with cakes and raffle in aid of Acle High School Young Leaders Project to Kenya.
  22nd Fairtrade Fortnight - Acle Churches Together. The theme this year is is "Big Swap" and people will be asked their usual teabags for Fairtrade ones.
  24th Lent Meetings organised by Acle Churches Together - entitled "Knowing God". The first meeting "Revealing God" is being held at the Methodist Church. The second meeting "This is your God" will be at St Edmunds Church on 3rd March. The meetings will start at 7.30pm and end with the short service of Compline about 9pm.
  27th Acle pre school are holding a quiz night at the Bridge Inn -well established quiz master "unc" at the helm. 1st prize a Fabulous wine & choc hamper there is also a raffle! Come along for a fun night out at a fab venue! Teams must be booked and paid for in advance by ringing Sam on 01493-751-850 or Sharon on 01493-751-709.max 4 people per team 2.50 per person with all proceeds go to Acle Pre School fundraising. Starts 7.30pm.

  6th Fairtrade Fortnight - a tea-party from 10am-noon on Saturday March 6th at the Parish Hall where cakes and cups of tea will be served. Cakes from all and sundry will be welcomed. There will also be a stall run by Barbara George
7th Methodist Church - Cafe Church: Food, Crafts, Brief and informal worship Week's theme "Love your neighbour". A warm welcome to all. 5-6pm.
  12th Acle Recreational Club, An Evening of Clairvoyance, Main Hall, 8.00 p.m. start
  12th Acle Bridge Pub - pre St Patricks celebration - we are delighted to welcome back "coracle" irish folk group. Coracle will be playing all the irish favourites from 7.30pm. The pub will be be decorated with a St Patricks day theme.feel free to wear anything green if you dare. An irish styled menu will be available all day Friday the 12th and Sat 13th march

  28th Acle Society Spring Walk - Fleggburgh Common. Meet in the Fleggburgh Village Hall at 2.15pm. Free walk and all welcome to join in.

April 4th Acle Churches Together Easter Sunday Service: greet the rising Son with the rising sun! Fishley Church, 6.00am
  17th St Edmund's Church Light Hearted Quiz plus Cheese and Wine
  20th Broadland D.C. - Relax, take time out, have fun and improve your fitness. No dance experience is necessary. Tuesdays, 3pm – 4pm. Refreshments until 4:30pm. 12 weeks starting Tuesday 20th April 2010. Held at The Garage, Chapelfield, Norwich. Led by Norfolk Dance in partnership with Broadland District Council.   23rd Acle Recreation Club - Come and see one of the UKs Best 60s Tribute Bands "Lou and The Diamonds" Lou himself was a top 60s session guitar player for the legendary Joe Meek who produced great hits such as "TELSTAR" Tony on bass guitar was with Adam Faith, PJ Proby and even dated Marianne Faithful for a while. The other two members Clive on drums and Nigel on lead vocals really show their own musical talent having been in some other bands. "Lou and The Diamonds" have played as a support act to many of the great original 60s bands such as The Searchers, The Fortunes, The Ivy League, Marmalade, Cliff Bennett, Jess Conrad and many others. Come and see them at ACLE, APRIL 23rd 2010. A great night of live 60s music, not to be missed!
May 1st Acle Recreational Centre - Car Boot Sale, Main Hall, 10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon. Hall will be open at 9.00 a.m. for table set up. The Recreation Centre will supply ALL tables and they will be £3.00 per table, which must be pre-booked. Contact is Jodie (or the office at the Recreation Centre). Anyone turning up on the day wishing to have a table will be charged £4.00 per table (subject to space available!). Refreshments will be available from the kitchen in the Main Hall.
16th Great Yarmouth Rotary Club Spring Charity Walk, starting and finishing at the Recreation Centre. 6, 8 or 10 miles walks, marshalled, toilet and first aid facilities available, children under 14 years free. Contact is Henry Dent on 01493 750954.
29th and 30th St Edmund's Church Flower Festival - As part of the Festival, at 7pm the Acle Community Choir will be performing. Free event, all welcome at attend.
June
12th Methodist Church Summer Fair. Various stalls and competitions. Refreshments will be served, opens at 2pm.
20th The Acle St Edmund Youth Orchestra will be playing easy listening music in the garden from 2.30pm at The Bridge Inn. The youngsters are all from Acle High School and Acle Primary School.
July 25th St Edmund strawberry teas plus concert
31st-8th St Edmunds Church - Open Churches Week Exhibition 10.00am – 4.00pm: displays around the church, including articles not normally on display (e.g. church embroidery, churchyard records, wedding display, Christening gowns. Refreshments available.
August 5th St Edmunds Church - 2pm, 6.30pm - 7.30pm, 7.30 - 8.15 pm. Talks on church embroidery and flower arranging at 2.00pm; bellringing demonstration at 6.30pm; Songs of Praise 7.30pm. In conjunction with the Open Churches Week exhibition.
